In this article with @G_Piccolino, recently out on @RegFedSt, we study party institutionalization through the career patterns of elected representatives.
We argue that a stable and loyal political class is key for party development and can be used to measure insitutionalization.

We collected data on past party affiliation of MPs and regional councillors of the Lega (1990-2025), to explore their variation over time and across regions.
We show that the party is most institutionalized in the North, while the share of switchers remains high in the South.
So happy that this piece, co-authored with @PanzanoGuido, is out on @Ita_PolSc_Rev!
We use multiple indicators to:
-assess Italy's democratic quality over time
-compare it to other liberal democracies
-explore their connection with party personalization and institutionalization
With @_sofiamarini on @Ita_PolSc_Rev we compare post-1994 Italy's democratic quality trends with other established liberal democracies in Europe & worldwide, refreshing Morlino's foundational framework with a large-N study encompassing several sources
How do parties compete? In Chapter 12, @_sofiamarini and @MarkusWagnerAT examine this question and ask how populist parties affect party competition. They detail how mainstream parties respond and adapt to the populist challenge.
Do changes in a party's leadership personnel matter for party policy?
In this new article (๐จ) in Party Politics, Wolfgang C. Mรผller and I show that new people in the main party executive introduce change in issue emphasis.๐งต
