I know that much of the "civilized" world is aware that Gaza's children and their families are being murdered in their tents by the gunfire of Israeli soldiers.
I know the "civilized" world has witnessed the systematic slaughter and incineration of families in their shelters for months on end.
But what I am certain the "civilized" world fails to grasp is that Gazaβs children have been deprived of an education for nearly three years. I was under the impression that this world championed the education of children as an inviolable right.
How do you wake up every morning and take your children or grandchildren to school, yet never utter a word or lift a finger for the children of Gaza?
How do you live with this fact?
I assumed that even if these "civilized" nations were indifferent to children languishing in makeshift tents for over 870 days, they would find it unconscionable for infants to be preyed upon by rats. I am left questioning the moral framework this "civilized" world was raised on.
What finally compels it to action, or what might finally deter it from bankrolling war crimes and crimes against humanity.
This photo was taken this morning. The infant remains in critical condition.
Some crimes break you. This is one of them. π
Raped, Strangled and Her Blind Son Drowned... All Because She Asked for βΉ160 Back
πLucknow, Uttar Pradesh
Reshma Bano (48) was a widow who ran a tiny grocery stall just to keep her visually impaired son Shadab (18) alive.
Her neighbour, Kishan Rawat, owed her βΉ160... a debt she kept asking him to repay. She never imagined that asking for her own money back would get her and her son killed.
Rawat allegedly got drunk, entered her home under the pretext of returning the money, raped and strangled Reshma... then hunted down her blind 18 y/o son who tried to save his mother, strangling him and drowning him in a water tank, placing another tank over the body to hide it.
Police tracked Rawat down days later. He opened fire, injuring a constable. Officers shot him in the leg and arrested him. A rape charge was later added based on the postmortem report.
"A ceasefire in name only.
Another dark day with 30 people reportedly killed only today.
Nearly 500 people have been killed since the ceasefire has been in place, among them more than 100 children according to @UNICEF.
A ceasefire means guns fall silent and give way to efforts to end the war.
Enough. People in Gaza deserve a genuine ceasefire - a much overdue ceasefire."

Several American X accounts have used these images recently to openly put out racist posts targeting Indians.
The person shown in the photo is Mr. Rajendra Panchal, who works as a helper in Maharashtra.
At the age of one, he fell on his face and broke his jaw, which remained fused shut.
Due to financial constraints, his parents could not get him treated.
Growing up with the deformity, he faced taunts about his appearance, which made him withdrawn and introverted.
For 38 years, he survived only on a liquid diet.
In 2017, after 39 years, Dr. Garde performed corrective surgery free of cost.
The surgery was successful, enabling Rajendra to eat solid food and speak clearly for the first time.
For the first time in 2017 after nearly four decades he ate solid food.
