The Dodgers are spending $700 million on Ohtani. The U.S. population is 327 million. They could have given each American $1 million and still have money left over for Ohtani. I feel like a $1 million check would be life-changing for most people. Yet they're spending it on Ohtani
So much data and factors to think about while everyone has their own personal biases and strong feelings after more people die. Regardless, people will need to start making sacrifices or compromise so people can stop being afraid to go to school or get groceries.
Gun control reform vs. arming the teachers and adding security is probably one of the biggest debates we’ll have in this decade and I don’t blame politicians for not being able to come up with a solution that everyone can be happy with that will also work well.
Are background checks thorough and strict enough? If people aren’t securing their firearms well enough, what do we do about that? Are buybacks enough for guns already out there? What if a gun ban has the inverse effect? We can’t exactly “test” these ideas without repercussions.
