PSA: if you're ever on a jury and the defendant is being tried for breaking a law you think is dumb, you can say "Not Guilty" and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
@Imjacobroberts There's no way to know. Juries don't announce it. OJ Simpson maybe, because there was one juror that said the verdict was payback for police brutality against Rodney King, but again, no way to tell.
@Imjacobroberts So if it happens enough, it may results in a push for reform of the criminal laws? But I don't know how you take away a jury's nullification power without fundamentally changing the jury system as a whole.
Just a reminder that, as of 2019, Texas is #1 in forcible rape cases (and #15 in rate per 100,000 people).
Finally, @GovAbbott decided to eliminate rape!
@jeffreywhatever I listened to Pod Save the World's episode on it, and I thought it was pretty balanced. To be fair, it's like an hour. Rightfully critical of Biden's missteps, but realistic analysis given the context.
