An explosive affidavit by the South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) alleges that Kastelo, a fintech group founded by DA federal finance chairperson Mark Burke, misrepresented its business activities to authorities in a bid to "circumvent" the country's exchange controls.

So the state must step aside and let capital deliver water, electricity and refuse? For what then is government elected?
This is literally an open admission that they have no interest in building a capable public sector. Just hand the functions to private companies so profit can be extracted from basic needs.
The poor will pay more. Prepaid meters will cut people off faster. Unprofitable areas will get inferior service. That is how privatisation of municipal services always works.
The crisis in municipalities is cadre deployment, corruption and zero accountability. The answer is not to sell the work to their white friends companies. The answer is to rebuild public institutions that actually deliver and face consequences when they don’t.
Government is not a tender board for capital.
When you vote for a government. You vote so it can provide services for you. To have a party that wants to be in government so it can hand over the provision of services to the private sector is disgraceful.
People don’t vote for the private sector, they vote so the government has all the capacity to deliver services. This is diabolical.
Imagine there is a political party that is promoting voters to clamp down on criminality in JHB but failed to do it in Cape Flat for nearly 20 years.
We are not stupid!
What this means in simple terms
If a foreign couple has a baby in South Africa, the baby’s birth must be registered even if the parents are undocumented or overstayed their visas. The child must be issued a birth certificate recording the facts of their birth that can lately be used to register their children in their countries.
What it does not mean:
-It does not make the child a South African citizen.
-It does not give the parents legal status or permanent residence.
-It does not stop Home Affairs from deporting parents who are in the country unlawfully.
The judge specifically emphasized that birth registration does not automatically confer South African citizenship.
