@sweatystartup I hire a lot of high schoolers, and if a parent comes in asking for a job for their child, my rule is that I don't hire them. Sometimes I'll even tell the parents to have the kid call or come in and not mention their parents at all for a second chance.

@Shpigford Hypothesis: some companies are doing this because product managers can’t keep up with engineers. Generating work like this is not optimal from the company’s perspective, but if you’re an engineer that wants to continue having a job, it’s not a bad strategy.

@jh3yy I believe the most important thing now is helping people develop taste. As a backend developer, I remember picking out a color scheme and ending up with a UI that looks like it was made by the joker. Seeing examples of good vs bad color usage called out helped immensely.

* Food cost comes out to about 1 full pizza per person
* You need fewer servers, but more support staff to constantly serve pizza. That costs more because they're not on tipped wages

@dhh Microservices are also the most legible way of demonstrating "ownership", which is listed as a category in most career ladders. This makes it a tempting option even when it is not the right technical solution.

@nikitabier @jspujji I wonder if the reason it tests better is because the user scrolls more down the timeline looking for the content they saw briefly. In that case the best way to get the issue fixed is to close the app whenever it happens and hope that the reason for the bounce is being tracked.🤷‍♂️
