hot take: we preferred to go out to the theaters until prices got super high. then safety issues popped up, plus a pandemic lockdown kept us away. once we were ready to go back to the movies, prices were so egregious that people couldn't go.

we stayed home, watched streaming and the more we watched, the higher the prices got there, too. now it just feels like we're being punished for trying to find reasonable entertainment while shareholders are scrambling to recover pandemic losses and find easy future profits.

Besides being Cameron's grandmother, Jo Ann was also a member of the "Clinton 12". At just 14-year-old, she was among the first Black students to desegregate Clinton High School in Tennessee after the Brown vs. Board of Ed case. It was one of the first desegregated public schools in the south.

With the current climate in the United States, its so important to realize just how recently the civil rights movement was and how much progress we had made only for it to start rapidly regressing with our current administration.

Boyce recalls the experience as “the first most excruciatingly painful event ever to happen to me,” as her family ended up moving to California 5 months after the desegregation due to the hate and violence the Clinton 12 faced. Only two members of the original Clinton 12 ended up staying to graduate from the school.
