Quite revealing this. He’d have been happy to drag this out all the way to end of August, souring the relationship immediately with a promising coach and potentially losing a good player.
If Levy was here he would’ve haggled all summer long, and then after failing to sign van Hecke at a cut-price, we’d sign a prospect from the Championship and wait to *maybe* sign him on a free next summer.
Ironically it’s his penny pinching every summer which has actually put us in this position where we have to overspend because we’re in desperate need now.
Simon Jordan talking about Tottenham having their pants pulled down by Brighton for Jan Paul van Hecke…
1) We don’t know how that £52m is structured, and how much of that is guaranteed and realistic.
2) How much would van Hecke be worth with 3+ years on his contact. My guess would be £70m+. In which case we’ve got him at a 25% discount.
3) If we did choose to wait until next summer when his contract expires, who’s to say a bigger, more appealing club won’t jump ahead of us? After which he would be valued at £70m+ again.
4) Upon signing with us is he not immediately worth his full value, having a long-term contract, hence an instant £15-20m unrealised profit?
The facts are Daniel Levy would have fought tooth and nail for a stupidly low fee, and would have ended up p*sing Brighton off, and we wouldn’t have signed the player. That is exactly why we are in this mess, because we’ve been trying to squeeze every penny out of the good opportunities and ending up having to take the average ones…
Stop complaining about paying £52m for Van Hecke.
Spurs make around £800k per game in just food and drink alone. That means that his signing, over a league and cup campaign, basically cost 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps 💷 🤛
This is why we missed out on so many players Daniel. You were the reason. Always trying to get one up on other teams. Hopefully our board continue this way.
🚨ITB IKUT MELAWAN🚨

🚨 | HUGE BREAKING : SANDRO TONALI 🇮🇹
Tottenham Hotspur set to start official talks with Newcastle United to reach a complete agreement for Sandro Tonali! 🇮🇹🚨⚪️#THFC
Sources suggest Spurs ready to pay big, £90m is the demand from Newcastle United. Both clubs want a quick solution and NOT a long saga, negotiations scheduled! 💣💥
Total agreement in-place between Spurs and Sandro Tonali over a long-term contract until 2031, important salary and signing bonuses agreed, as revealed earlier. 🤝🏻✅️
Roberto De Zerbi is being the key for the deal, he is pushing for Sandro Tonali’s signing with Spurs, and hierarchy in-line with RDZ to get his request done. 🇮🇹👀
Tottenham Hotspur are in in-direct talks, direct negotiations expected in the next 24 hours to try and close a deal in the next days. Deal advancing rapidly. 💣💥
⚪️ "By the way... Spurs are BACK!"
🙌 "Van Hecke, Sensei, Robertson, Tonali... We're coming for ya!"
Jamie O'Hara's already dropping a "Spurs are back" midway through the World Cup! 🤣
Daniel Levy on clubs getting their pants pulled down in negotiations.
Also Daniel Levy:
£60m Ndombele.
£60m Richarlison.
£65m Solanke.
This is also the man who sold Keane and Berbatov & thought Fraizer Campbell would soften the blow.
No further questions.
Villa fans: “it’s so unfair Spurs finished 17th twice in a row but can spend more money than us!”
Maybe you should look at this…
#THFC have made a total of £850M MORE than Aston Villa, Since 2020.
Spurs have a unique stadium that generates hundreds of millions a year. To add to that, Spurs are in a good position with FFP and PSR so we can spend a lot.
Us finishing 17th consecutively is irrelevant to how much we could theoretically spend.
Spurs generate considerably much more than Aston Villa simply because we are a bigger club.
Tottenham's window so far consists of a £52m (60m €) outlay for Senesi, Robertson and van Hecke. I'd say that's not having your pants pulled down. Plenty of cash still available as much as it pains you Daniel.
