Through reflective practice, I have realised how far my knowledge and understanding of #culturaldiversity has come since beginning this assignment. Communicating and connecting with other pre-service teachers has only inspired me to learn more! #UoNTeach
This assignment has made me appreciate Twitter as a resource. I have learnt to communicate with other pre-service teachers and ask questions to develop a deeper understanding. It has been inspiring to connect with likeminded teachers. #UoNTeach https://t.co/Neuic3uE66
Upon reflecting the effectiveness of Twitter as a learning tool, I share the thoughts of Evans (2017). Twitter encourages young learners to use digital technologies to learn, collaborate and communicate with others, whilst developing digital literacy skills. #UoNTeach
EDUC4750 has given me the opportunity to collaborate and communicate with my fellow pre-service teachers via the Twitter platform to guide and help form ideas for my project. I agree with Carpenter and Krutka (2014) in how efficient and accessible Twitter is as a tool. #UoNTeach
Before undertaking EDUC4750, I was unaware of how useful the platform of Twitter was to educators as a learning and resource sharing tool. Carpenter and Krutka (2014) found that 96% of educators use Twitter for resource sharing/acquiring. #UoNTeach
Turner, Wilson and Wilks (2017) state that project participating teachers had an increased knowledge of concepts of histories, contemporary cultures, cultural identity, understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and language. #UoNTeach
Turner, Wilson and Wilks (2017) explain how Aboriginal Rangers from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services strengthened links between the school and the community through sustainable land management practice in the establishment of the school’s new Bush Tucker garden. #UoNTeach
https://t.co/GWKYodzRMK A crucial document explaining the steps and protocol to begin engaging with your local Aboriginal communities. I know that this document will be at the forefront of my project to ensure I follow the appropriate procedures. #UoNTeach
After researching the community benefits of my project, I discovered the notion of reciprocal learning. This is a great concept that highlights the important link between students and community benefiting equally through the teaching and learning process (Furco, 1996). #UoNTeach
What a fantastic resource @morts_a ! I will definitely look to incorporate 8 Ways into my project to build community connectedness. Community involvement leads to an increase of pride in Aboriginal identity and more students are willing to assert their Indigeneity (8 Ways, n.d.).
'Bring your familiar understandings, but be willing to grow beyond these', a protocol of https://t.co/R6FPuRyMQt. Learning is about the growth of knowledge through stories, sharing, & doing. Inclusion of 8 Ways in my project will support both teaching & learning. #UoNTeach
I will include school-community engagement throughout all phases of my project as it is vital to consult and work alongside local Indigenous families to provide an authentic sense of contribution and belonging to the school community (Board of Studies NSW, 2008). #UoNTeach
According to ACER (2011), school-community engagement can bring social, intellectual, financial, psychological and performance benefits. How will you as a preservice teacher bring authentic engagement between school and community to your school? #UonTeach#schoolcommunity
@samanthayhall I sure have! I've included consistent opportunities for student voice during the planning stages of my project to enable students to be actively engaged by contributing to the creation of the final product. Students will have choices regarding the work they're doing. #UoNTeach
Szelei (et. al, 2019) demonstrates the value of exercising student voice as a pedagogical tool to create a broader understanding of #CulturalDiversity within the classroom. This highly engaging strategy gifts students a greater feeling of representation and acceptance. #UoNTeach
Payette & Barnes (2017) highlight how useful De Bono’s Thinking Hats can be used for critical thinking. I will definitely look at implementing this within my project, especially when exploring ideas and building the field. #UoNTeach
https://t.co/fQh0j4maCc An excellent way to build identity and cultural diversity within your school is to create a bush tucker garden by exploring the traditional ways of caring for the environment. #UonTeach
An eye-opening video highlighting how little Australians know about their own native foods. Tucker Bush aims to educate and reconnect Australians with their own land's unique flavours. I would love to see this in the classroom! #UoNTeach https://t.co/pE8xr6eoLd
The Tucker Bush Schools Program is an amazing initiative that helps share and teach Aboriginal cultural knowledge and gives students opportunities to strengthen their understanding and awareness of food and biodiversity. #UoNTeach https://t.co/6bUkIkT550
🧡Happy Harmony Week🧡
This great resource can be used to spark conversation about #culturaldiversity and inclusiveness in the classroom. Mem Fox’s ‘Whoever You Are’ has powerful messages that reflect and support the core values of Harmony Week. #UoNTeach https://t.co/4a5PEEOGdv
If you are thinking about keeping your children at home during #COVID19, @NSWEducation have a range of online and offline K-6 teaching and learning resources that provide all families with a valid starting point. #UoNTeach

The future teacher will have more time to interact with their students. The Foundation for Young Australians (2017) explain how the growing use of digital learning tools will make classroom education a more interactive, student-centred experience. #UoNTeach
