Today is one-year mark since the passing of my brother Darshan. I've been spending the past few days reflecting on the happy, funny, adventurous, and tough times. He was quite the character ๐
I'd like to extend my thoughts and support to those who have also lost family members to mental health. Especially those who were in medicine. My brother's ability to take care of others during times he felt so much pain inspires me to do better.
We work in a system that at times can take advantage of the calling we may feel to take care of the sick. I felt this more after his passing . See, my brother was on a Locums assignment at the time. In the immediate aftermath of hearing the news, I was told that the site would NOT be paying for the time he had worked, as he could not sign some reports. We can and must do better.
Thanks to those who have reached out about my brother and his story. I will continue to share it to the best of my ability.
