His articleship stipend was just ₹125 per month.

He became the first Chartered Accountant in his entire village, district, and community.

He now leads the world's largest accounting body, with over 5 Lakh members.

He has helped create a ₹500 Crore scholarship fund for aspiring CAs.

And even while leading this massive institute, he does not draw any salary.

He is none other than CA @CJSNanda, the 73rd President of ICAI.

In the latest episode of Konversation with Kushal, I had a discussion with him to understand his incredible story, from his humble beginnings to his ambitious vision for the profession, including creating 50 Lakh CAs by 2050 to make India a superpower.

We then took a deep dive into the future of the CA profession. He addresses the stipend concern, the stagnant average salary, and the fear of failure (sharing the inspiring story of a 14-attempt CA who became a council member). He also reveals ICAI's ₹500 Crore scholarship fund, new AI courses, and then movement to create Home Grown Big 4s.

This podcast is one of the closest to my heart. After a year of constant follow-ups, we finally made it happen. We met at a cafe just before the podcast, and I really had an amazing time with him. He is one of the most honest and genuine people I have ever met.
