It's an honor and privilege to write this article published by UN Chronicle. I bring forth the importance of Indigenous data sovereignty in the age of AI.
"For those who grew up with limited political freedoms, democracy has always been a beacon."

“I have decided to stick to love… Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of non-violent social change remains a vital guide for achieving global equality and human rights.
#AI is only as inclusive as the data it learns from.
If #IndigenousPeoples are poorly represented in datasets, AI may reinforce stereotypes & flatten the diversity of thousands of communities & languages.

@unuias
“The question has gone beyond how #IndigenousPeoples can be included in AI to how AI can be shaped by Indigenous knowledge and rights.”

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the fastest-spreading Ebola epidemic ever recorded.
It's growing faster & wider than the response to contain it.
But it can be stopped.
We know how to contain Ebola & save lives.
The world must urgently step up action to get it under control.
Together with the @ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric, and with even greater urgency, I renew my call on States to establish specific prohibitions & restrictions on autonomous weapon systems.
We are now dangerously close to crossing a moral red line: the autonomous targeting of humans by machines.
Innovation must serve humanity – not endanger it.
Humanitarian workers are here to help the world’s most vulnerable people when disaster strikes.
Attacking humanitarians is a violation of international humanitarian law.
They are #NotATarget.
