βItβs not mutualβ fake Nikkie or real Nikkie?
In the bedroom scene, when Nikkie is standing in the corner looking and acting all creepy, she says βitβs not mutualβ between her cries.
Is it just me, or did anyone else think that was the real Nikkie? It could have been fake Nikkie crying about how she loves him and heβs not loving her in the same way, but it felt like the real Nikkie coming through and trying to tell Bear that *she* doesnβt love him.
*He* loves *her,* but she *-* the real Nikkie - doesnβt love him*.* It was never mutual.
I feel like the more I think about the movie, the more I realize all these little moments where the real Nikkie is bleeding through. There are two obvious ones, like outside the car, when the wish first takes effects, and the first kissing scene where she screams and jumps backwards off the bed, but I love these subtle ones.
I think the most interesting thing about obsession is how a woman who was very clearly emotionally unavailable & damage turned into an absolute βpsychopathβ when forced to be in βloveβ.
The dissonance is what makes the horror.
