Based on the severity of the attack and lasting trauma

• Violation of privacy rights
Claims prison staff seized his personal notebooks containing unreleased music and legal notes while he was hospitalized

• Conversion
Accuses officials of wrongfully taking and keeping his intellectual property

Key allegations from the complaint:

• He was stabbed about 16 times by an inmate with a violent history
• Prison officials allegedly knew the attacker was dangerous but still housed them together
• Staff response was delayed, allowing the attack to continue
• He suffered collapsed lungs, facial scarring, and long-term physical and emotional damage
• His unreleased music and legal materials were allegedly taken and never returned

What he’s asking for:

• $100 million in damages
Including medical costs, pain and suffering, lost career earnings, and emotional distress

• Punitive damages
Against prison officials for alleged reckless conduct

• Injunctive relief
Including return of his notebooks and changes to how high-profile inmates are housed

Bottom line:
This lawsuit is not just about the attack itself. It’s about whether prison officials knowingly ignored a serious risk and failed in their legal duty to protect someone in their custody.
