@esaumccaulley I want so badly to agree 100%. I think that is the next frontier of Black American liberty—to be, and not to be a response (or responding).
Growing up, I hated that washing my hands meant they’d likely be ashy the rest of the day and I’d be made fun of.
I so craved acceptance that I habitually neglected my own hygiene, causing shame and self-consciousness that led to an ironic self-isolation. #reflection
