I went to a state school which was performing arts focused

which led me to do a drama & CW degree at uni

I use my writing skills in my current & previous jobs and in my spare time.

🧵Today, government cuts to arts and humanities courses were confirmed by @officestudents

These courses face a 50% cut to their subsidies, which will make many unviable, forcing them to close

Here are the courses that are effected:

Performing arts
Music
Drama
Dance
Art

without the clear & accessible pathways from my state school to uni
i would not do what i'm doing today

Do i think the english education system needs an overhaul and more diverse writers? YES. 1000%.

But I truly believe in the arts.

I didn't get shortlisted but I was one of only 7 writers to be commended so that's pretty cool.
