I do believe this brings the Ann Arbor tower crane count to 6!
1) New hospital tower
2) 616 E. Washington
3) Vic Village South
4) New pharmacy school building
5) Vanguard Hotel (fka The Glen)
6) 721 S. Forest!
I noticed this tower crane being put up at 721 S. Forest the other day โย went back to check on it. Tower crane is fully assembled and functional. A significant amount of foundation has been poured, if not all. Great progress on a great neighborhood addition.
8) 721 Forest St
Subtext's "The Verve," a 12 story residential tower is under construction. A crawler crane and a self erecting crane are on site in order to drive piles to build the foundation.

7) New Leinweber Information building
They have multiple cranes on site, but notably no luffing-jib cranes. They only have a much larger crawler crane in front.
I'm on permanent Twitter leave, at least on my main account, so I've been neglecting this. Let's do a quick rundown of all standing cranes in Ann Arbor that I've personally seen, plus renderings of what they're building.
1) the new Central Campus Recreational Building.
4) Vanguard Hotel (fka The Glen)
This hotel is going to be a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel (https://t.co/pp38L8w5H5). I don't have any good photos of construction. They also have a one luffing-jib crane, which you can see in the background of the pharmacy school photo
3) New Pharmacy School building
The stair cores are complete, and the steel framing is now going vertical. There is a luffing-jib crane and an all-terrain crane.
I found the floor by floor construction interesting โย most other high rises being built in Ann Arbor today build the stair cores first, then build around them. This building has not. This may be because they are just now finishing the parking garage floors. I'll check back later
2) 616 E. Washington. This building was approved all the way back in 2019. I covered it when it construction had just started, and now they're vertical. The second building behind it is fully complete. The crane isn't fully in my most recent shot.
There are two crawler cranes. They've topped out the building height, and are finishing the roof. There's a lot of interesting steel work, with some cool bent beams inside. There's also a full-size pool in there somewhere.
Iโm back at the site of Vic Village South, trying to see whatโs up with the new crane. I asked a worker from Ericksonโs whatโs going on- theyโre going to remove part of the jib of the tower crane to make it stronger, then put it right back. #A2Cranes
#A2cranes 2 relatively recent cranes up at the Vic Village South site. A Rough Terrain crane and an All Terrain crane have joined the already standing luffing-jib tower crane.

#A2cranes Crane today spotted by the First National Bank Building, now occupied by the Old National Bank. First Martin owns the building, so I asked some employees I saw outside what was going on. They said it was AT&T antenna work. The crane was gone by 3 PM
Upcoming weird developments with PUD/rezoning:
- 721 S Forest: 631 beds
- Southtown by 4M: 250 units
- 5 Corners @ State/Packard: 364 units
Kinda wondering where these developments will go. 721 S Forest and 5 Corners already did their pre-PUD conference.
