Interesting chart from Bloomberg…will productivity gains driven by technology/AI result in a higher neutral rate? The 2yr yield is currently trading near its lowest level since the beginning of the tightening cycle.
Canada’s Big 6 banks just wrapped up a strong year with their Q4 2025 releases. Earlier this week on the Barometer webcast, I discussed their performance and highlighted the unique advantages they hold over their North American and International peers.
Had the opportunity to discuss the market set up and balancing act between rate cuts and inflation on BNN Bloomberg’s The Open. We continue to see leadership within financials.

We spoke about our positioning within Canadian banks on our webcast this week. Credit trends continue to look good for the group. Royal Bank’s quarter really exhibited the power of business line diversification.
On this week’s webcast, Amit Joshi (@a7joshi) highlights BMO’s Q3 beat—credit quality improved, U.S. banking delivered, and wealth management strengthened. He outlines why Royal and National stand to benefit as Canadian banks boost dividends and buybacks.
Interesting chart from Bloomberg. At Barometer, we have avoided exposure to long-dated bonds given potential inflation risks resulting from tariffs and rate cuts. Our preference has been to skew the fixed income portion of our portfolio towards an avg. duration of 3.5 to 4 years.
With market breadth improving we continue to be constructive on equities in to the second half of 2025. Tariffs are the wildcard, however, we are encouraged by the price action of leadership sectors such as industrials, financials and technology. https://t.co/xi8UfL4nzE
Had the pleasure of joining andrew bell on BNN Bloomberg to share some insights on upcoming Canadian bank earnings as well as our current positioning in Financials and Industrials, two sectors we continue to be overweight. https://t.co/rZKwp21PNJ
LNG Canada is on track to start exporting LNG by mid-2025 and ramping to nameplate capacity by early 2026. Watch as David Burrows @barometerca and I discuss the implications on Canadian natural gas stocks. https://t.co/7uTVIyaRk2
Some great points in this opinion piece of what is needed for Canada to decrease its reliance on the U.S. A GIGA response to a MAGA problem! https://t.co/F8ka2LvC2m
Tariffs and the likelihood of a global trade war and its implications on economic growth continue to weigh on markets. In uncertain times, cash is king and protecting client capital is our highest priority.
I am looking forward to an hour with @BNNBloomberg
on @marketcall today at 12:00pm. Let's talk #markets, leadership themes and #equities. Where do we go from here? It is always a highlight of my week!
