BMC is now looking forward to improved connectivity with this last leg of Coastal Road, expected to be built in 4 years!

#KeralaFiles story seems to be influenced by the 2020 Swedish Netflix series #Caliphate, which had a similar story line.

3-4 non-Muslim girls convert to Islam through their male college friends, then they are brainwashed to join #ISIS, and then they marry ISIS men. Some of them want to escape, while some of them become braindead to stay in the ISIS territories.

Indeed, such incidents did happen in Europe, Middle-East and India during 2014-2018. But not the 32,000 figure which was initially claimed by the Kerala story.

According to Observatory Research Foundation (ORF) 2019 report, around 60-70 individuals including men and women joined ISIS from India.

Moreover, the #Salafi center is blamed in the movie for brainwashing and recruiting Muslims. This is factually incorrect.

ISIS is widely misunderstood as a Salafi group, while ISIS’ first fatwa of beheading, was against Salafi scholar of Saudi Arabia Shaykh Saleh al-Fawzan, because Salafis from the day one termed ISIS as Khawarij (a terror group that emerged during the early days of Islam).

Infact, Salafis were the first ones to give fatwa against ISIS, due to which, pro-ISIS Islamists blamed Salafis to be “Murjiyah” - a derogatory word to call Muslims as heathens.

In July-2016, ISIS attacked Saudi Arabia’s public places including Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.

Reality is, ISIS was inspired by #MuslimBrotherhood.

Such unfortunate events like Kerala story did happen in India, the way it happened in the west. But it was not generalized there, and hopefully it won’t be generalized in India.

Also, I would like to suggest my fellow Muslims that there’s nothing to be reactionary about, and react against the movie as if it’s an assault against the whole Muslim community.

In fact, you should take it as an opportunity to engage and educate the fellow Indians, and tell them that back in 2014 how you confronted ISIS, and how you will do it in future against all these Islamist groups.

Make sure that your reaction is not exploited by shady groups against the state.
