Correct. Rightly understood, the doctrine of God's sovereign election is the most humbling doctrine there is.
It is the free-will position that is arrogant, for it says, 'I am smart enough and wise enough to choose Jesus of my own free will, whereas most are not.'
@GoWithJordan_ Hmm π€...I think the better illustration would be that @DineshDSouza, @realJennaEllis, @Biblicalman, etc... are like Calculus professors trying to convince some of their students that 2+2 does NOT equal 5, no matter how many books they've read that may have taught it that way! π
@HwsEleutheroi@realJennaEllis Hubris is an interesting thing....a silent killer....similar to carbon monoxide....you think everything is fine until it's too late and you realize that you've been breathing the wrong stuff for far too long. π£
@Biblicalman@DineshDSouza Same! You summed up my morning to an almost exact detail....including the struggle to not fire away stinging quips and insults....too often the easiest path to take, sadly. π£
But you set a great example with a measured, yet honest response. Thanks! You are not alone in this!
The Ark was built before the rain.
That is the part men skip.
Noah did not wait until the sky turned black.
He did not wait until water came through the door.
He did not wait until his wife was scared, his sons were frantic, and the neighbors finally believed him.
He built while the world looked normal.
That is faith.
Not vibes.
Not panic.
Not last-minute religion.
Obedience before proof.
βBy faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an arkβ¦β
Hebrews 11:7 KJV
Most men wait until the flood is already in the house.
The marriage is already cold.
The son is already distant.
The daughter already stopped talking.
The body already broke down.
The money is already gone.
Then they want God to help them build.
But the ark is not a panic project.
It is what a man builds because he believes God before the weather changes.
Build before the rain.
John leaned on Jesus' chest at supper.
Stayed at the cross when every other man ran.
Outlived all twelve. Beaten. Boiled in oil. Exiled to a rock in the ocean.
Thirty years later, Jesus appeared to him in glory.
John didn't worship. Didn't kneel. Didn't lift his hands.
He fell at His feet as dead.
As dead.
Peter did the same thing. After the miraculous catch β boats sinking under the weight β Peter didn't celebrate.
He said: "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord."
Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up. Seraphim crying, Holy. And the prophet said: "Woe is me! for I am undone."
Job argued with God for 37 chapters. Then God showed up. Job said: "I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes."
Every tough man in the Bible who saw the living God had the same reaction.
Not awe. Not worship.
Collapse.
Now look at us.
Walking into church with coffee. Nodding at sermons. Shaking hands in the lobby. Forgetting it by Tuesday.
We think we've been in God's presence.
If you'd been in God's presence, you wouldn't walk out the same way you walked in.
The men who saw Him couldn't stand.
We can barely be bothered to sit.
When Jesus returns, there will be no more heroes. No more performers. The hero and the villain will stand equal at last β empty-handed, bare-faced, finally free to be merely beloved...
@NJBeisner Thankfully, looks like most agree that the infant baptism is a man-made ritual, and it probably shouldn't come into play when you start trying to parse scriptures about only needing to be baptized once...specifically after your profession of faith and not before. So go do it!! π
No wrapping paper. No bow. No tinsel. No card. Just a baby wrapped in cloths, lying in a manger.
By today's standards that scene wouldn't have caught anyone's attention, yet it was the best "gift" in the history of the world!! π

By today's standards that scene might not have looked like much, but it was the best "gift" in the history of the world!! π

@HamillHimself To be fair, most people do say that The Empire Strikes Back was the BEST of the Star Wars films, while people typically think Return Of The Jedi was the worst.
We're still trying to figure out what Ewoks had to do with anything, too!? (Kinda like Joe's comments sometimes? π€)
...the tornado going through the junkyard may have not assembled a fully functional plane, but it seems like it sure did put together a pretty nice set of ballot boxes!! π π
In regards to Darwinism, I once heard it mentioned that the chances of a human evolving from "nothing" were roughly the same as a tornado going through a junkyard and putting together a fully functional Boeing 747! π³ (aka Hoyle's Fallacy)
Makes it seem quite unlikely, huh!?! π
While each reported case may slip under the threshold of "enough evidence" to merit a change, I do think there's a point where you look at the probability of ALL of these irregularities happening...at the same time...and you can't help but think that.....
