@Eva_B89 I was in the same room as a TV that was playing a VHS of Poltergeist when I was 18 months, but I don't remember that. It did affect my watching habits however, as my parents strongly discouraged me from watching any horror after that.

@Artemisapphire In Germany it is significant because the state collects church tax. 8-9% of the amount you pay in other taxes is deducted additionally. So leaving the church in this context basically means as registering your lapsedness with the state.

@clodaghmurph_y Because Excel doesn't recognise that this is a decimal point - in the excel version the points are used as separations between thousands. If you can, replace the decimal point with a comma in the original, and it should work.

@germany_iam I recently noticed that I say "sorry" three different ways, depending on whether I am speaking German, English or (recently added) Dutch. It's the same word, but it is weirdly also absolutely clear to me how that word is supposed to sound in each one.

@MikeStuchbery_ ... everyday life is just a lot worse organised in Germany than in South Korea (wrt digitisation of bureaucracy etc.) Of course the most important part in any place is social connections - no place will feel like home if you have no friends or family or other community.

@MikeStuchbery_ Hmmm to be honest - I can see where she's coming from in many points. Small town Germany can be incredibly hostile to "outsiders", especially poc, and people's attitude to someone who doesn't speak the language fluently can be less than gracious. From what I have heard...(1/2)
