I have been up all night thinking about this. We are in a very sad state over in academia land.
It doesn’t feel safe.
I don’t feel protected.
And, I am tired of grieving.
@Trupanion@dougcastoldi My cost is going from $112 to $162. That’s more than I paid for my own pretty good insurance working a corporate job. You all have lost your damn minds 😂 I’ll be going somewhere else for the same coverage.
Thank you to all the warriors who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Especially thinking of my teammate ENS Josh Watson, who was killed standing watch in the Dec. 2019 Pensacola shooting. His actions helped save lives, despite being mortally wounded. Be thou at peace
See our new preprint about using demographic perturbation to train fairer language models, all while maintaining downstream performance!
This also means better representation for demographic groups stereotyped or completely forgotten by NLP datasets. See thread for more details
*Sigh* This really upset/disappointed me. I think it’s because I really respect this prof and they talk a lot about unconscious bias in their class. I was already struggling to motivate myself to study for my last final, now I’m completely distracted. #AcademicTwitter#phdchat
Today I had the privilege of sharing my research on exploring a relationship between climate and conflict in Ethiopia with the @EF_Fellows Africa Program Fellows during their visit to @AfricaHarvard! So awesome to be in a room full of so many brilliant minds that look like me!
As an immune compromised person this is terrifying, especially given the huge spike in cases @Harvard is experiencing 🙃 I guess I will just exclude myself from the Harvard “community” and have a less inclusive experience than my peers. #phdlife#AcademicChatter
It takes 2 self injected immunosuppressants & ~70 pills weekly to keep my autoimmune disease manageable. Academia is a hard place to exist w/ an #invisibleillness & I remind myself often, that just showing up can be a victory. #phdlife#phdchat#AcademicChatter#chronicillness
Sheba’s first day as a @Harvard grad student. Apparently a #PhD moves a lot faster in dog years. Waiting to hear from her committee members on a defense date. #dogsofharvard
Stress ate 3 bags of Funyuns trying to finish my first abstract today for #AGU 😅 still deciding what my go to comfort food will be for #gradschool. Open to suggestions.
