Political Islam has many editions, and the current one centred around opportunism is one of the worst we have seen.
Islam, to me, is a moral compass. It teaches humility, justice and mercy toward all creation. It is a way of seeing the world through God’s Eyes.
But for Machiavellian figures like Mehdi Hasan and Mamdani, it has been reduced to politics: a tribal badge, a cultural refuge for the Global South, and a weapon against the West.
Waving a trans flag when convenient?
That is not faith and I don't want to do anything with this mess.
That is identity politics dressed in religious language.
At the very least, children should be the last place where we play politics or exchange cheap rhetoric.
"Maanta wax eynu 66 sanno kadib udabaal degeno meesha mayaaliin" -- Baruurmadow.
How can Somaliland move forward when inan-gumeeds like Buurmadow are still routinely platformed by state television to spew Somalian propaganda?
Maantuu rabaa inuu Xasan Guurguurte uxayasiisiyo bulshada Somaliland oo wadahadalo cusub loo furo Somalia.

I extend my warmest congratulations to all the people of the Republic of Somaliland on the 66th anniversary of our independence, 26 June 1960. On this historic day, Somaliland became the first of the five Somali territories to attain independence.
I’m delighted to share my book, H.E. Mujahid Abdirahman Aw Ali Farah, Somaliland's former Vice President, a veteran, a statesman, and intellectual, and his contribution to Somaliland peace-making, peace–building, and state–building, which is worthy of being revealed and preserved
Former Somaliland Foreign Minister Edna Adan Ismail delivers a special message marking the 65th anniversary of Somaliland’s independence, reflecting on the nation’s historic achievement, honoring the sacrifices made for freedom, and reaffirming Somaliland’s enduring pursuit of peace, democracy, and international recognition.

No President @WilliamsRuto, the @_AfricanUnion doesn’t need reform!
It needs to be disbanded altogether.
The AU has become a Pay as You Go vote bank for competing world superpowers and every1 agrees, it no longer serves #African interests bt the interests of others like China.
@QudsNen The Arabs probably shouldn’t have participated in a genocide then not only ignored a strategic nation but attempted to starve it into submission
Turks and Qataris shouldn’t have threatened the republic of Somaliland’s sovereignty.
Now deal with the consequences.
Arab regimes like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar all of a sudden pretending to be eternal allies of Somalia is laughable. Not one Egyptian president, Saudi king or Qatari Emir ever visited Somalia in the 66 years of its formal nationhood. I don't think they even sent one their understudies or apprentice dictators to the place, ever. By contrast, every Somalia leader vistied Cairo and Riyadh at least five times. Facts tell a story.
🚨 BREAKING: the H.R. 3992 Republic of Somaliland Independence Act has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The momentum Somaliland is building is incredible.
Btw, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs committee is @RepBrianMast, this is great because... 👇
