A few things that often get left out in the Kane discussion in the main stream media analysis of his role
1) His role for Bayern ~ often mention his goal record as a reason he should be close to the box at all times for England, without mentioning how he’s achieved that with Bayern and the conditions around him
2) The multiple benefits of dropping low to receive the ball, it isn’t just “Kane has good passing range to pick out runners” ~ he also can provide a +1 which especially at international level will RARELY be fully followed meaning England have the spare man in build up to take control (will be key in this heat to control as much as possible) ~ you then have the fact that IF he is followed all the way, he’s opening massive space ahead of him, which the squad has been picked to optimise (Rogers, Jude, Rashford, Gordon specifically, but also dynamic full-back runners)
3) Kane dropping deep allows him to ghost back towards the box rather than give a centre-back a constant reference and body to battle with on a physical level ~ take away that advantage they could have on Kane (physically dominating) and let him utilise his movement and understanding in the box instead arriving with separation
The issue I have with pundits questioning Kane dropping into deeper positions is that Kane knows when to drop better than anyone who talks about it.
He's got 67 goals this season playing this role.
I'm only interested in getting behind Thomas Tuchel and the lads now.
We all have our opinions, and everyone's entitled to that, but at the end of the day Thomas has been coaching for 26 years, and managing at the highest level for 11 of those.
I reckon if you can manage Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich and win 11 honours, from a coaching career that started from scratch, you're probably quite good and might have a rough idea of all the ingredients you need to succeed at the highest level.
After all, you're not just picking the best 26 players, you're also picking a group of men that have all the characteristics to last the course over a month in a real endurance test from all sorts of angles.
I trust wholeheartedly that there's been an extremely advanced and detailed thought process that's gone into the decision-making, as if that needs to be said.
Our job as a nation now is to bring some positivity to the management and to the team.
Come on England! 🏴

I don't think the squad is as shocking as people are making out
Tuchels made it pretty clear over the past 12 months who he likes
Hall is the biggest shock, but he's only played 52 minutes for England this season
I would always take Maguire, but Tuchel made it pretty clear in March that he doesn't fancy him
4 changes I would've made:
Maguire > Quansah
Hall > Spence
Wharton > Henderson
Palmer > Toney
I still think our first 11 will be incredibly strong, and importantly, balanced
Bring on the summer!
