Donum Veritatis says Magisterium applies to discipline as well:
No 17:
“For this same reason, magisterial decisions in matters of discipline, even if they are not guaranteed by the charism of infallibility, are not without divine assistance and call for the adherence of the faithful. “
@ilGrand_Inq@pluant The magisterium says it gives better symbolic witness to our communion to have this uniformity. Only a creep would think it’s creepy to be invested in how your fellow Catholics live out their faith.
@Lacertosus_7766@pluant It’s not hard to just do what the Church instructs. Liberal attitudes among trads want to resist that, doing whatever they want, but that’s never been the Catholic way.
@Kenzi63545588Mc@LarryStich9@yeacolyte@pluant Yes, 95% of those who attend weekly mass in the Novus Ordo believe in the real presence, according to the recent CARA survey commissioned by Notre Dame and Georgetown. Most of these people receive communion standing.
95% of those who attend Mass weekly believe in the real presence, according to the recent CARA survey, which was commissioned to correct the poor wording of the earlier pew survey.
Most of these people receive communion standing.
This makes sense, since posture both “expresses the intentions and spiritual attitude of the participants and also fosters them.” (GIRM 42)
Traditional equals…? If it just refers to handing things down, then a practice that wasn’t continued to be handed down after Vatican II makes that practice not traditional, I take it? What’s your criteria? You do realize also that the Church distinguishes between Tradition and traditions, I hope.
CCC 83: “Tradition is to be distinguished from the various theological, disciplinary, liturgical or devotional traditions, born in the local churches over time. These are the particular forms, adapted to different places and times, in which the great Tradition is expressed. In the light of Tradition, these traditions can be retained, modified or even abandoned under the guidance of the Church's Magisterium.”
@Brownson_Review@pluant Nothing intrinsically wrong with kneeling. It has complicating factors which Mrozowski highlights, to be taken into consideration.
I also wrote this article as a follow up: https://t.co/8IGwpbIoLb
@Brownson_Review@pluant It says she chose a practice for its practical or devotional value over its theological value. She has the prerogative to do that.
@pluant I included the unless clause in my article, you just can’t seem to grapple with the fact that an unless clause, by the fact of it being a clause, makes it not the norm.
