@CIJ_ICJ update:

Today, #Myanmar started its first round of oral arguments. Without surprise, the Junta agent and legal representative denied The @Gambia_MOJ's arguments en bloc.

"It was hard for the victims present in court to hear the delegation of #Myanmar refuting the sexual violence and deliberate targeting of #Rohingya children," said @AntoniaMulvey at the end of the hearings on Friday. "These people have personally survived these crimes, lost loved ones, and witnessed the systematic, deliberate, and organized attacks on their community. Their dignity and courage in court today were once more commendable."

The hearings will resume Monday.

Our team in Bangladesh marked the #16DaysofActivism by turning the spotlight on digital violence.

Rohingya women and girls shared how online “friendships”, fake marriage offers, blackmail and harassment follow them even into the camps. Even online, women are being targeted, silenced and exploited.

Together with LAW Survivor Advocates, participants talked through real scenarios, learned how to spot digital red flags, and discussed where they can seek help and support.

“Before joining @ShantiMohila, I didn't know what international justice mechanisms were. The #Rohingya community has very low literacy levels as we were never allowed to properly study in #Myanmar. Because of years of persecution in our country and lack of knowledge about our rights, we could not seek justice back in Myanmar. Having received trainings from LAW, we learnt about international courts (@CourPenaleInt / @CIJ_ICJ ) and our rights as individuals and community as a whole. It is crucial for us to inform the others in the community about the ongoing cases and to conduct awareness sessions with them, to be able to raise our voices together.”
