Great interview with @ShobitaP hosted by Nicholas McCay of @ESpacewalk who is an STS grad student within the "Responsibility in Science, Technology, and Society" (RESET) program at our department.
Very proud to see exciting ideas and research projects coming from our current @TUM_STS RESET master's students. Feel free to join the party virtually!
Dear #STS Community, happy new year! Why not start the new year with drafting an abstract for the #EASST2022 conference? Check out the #CallForAbstracts via https://t.co/G31Ld9kkbr
Very interesting 1 year junior+senior fellowships (postdoc and prof) offer in Aachen (Germany). @RWTHHumTec is a great place for STS in Germany.

"Picturing the Invisible" is now in THE NEW STATESMAN!!
My love of the @NewStatesman borders on the unhealthy, so I am pinching myself.
Thanks so much to @gerrylb for this wonderfully erudite article. It really gets to the heart of the exhibition!

My friend @MakTakahashi1 has put together a remarkable exhibition in London on the legacy of the #Fukushima nuclear disaster. Amazing artworks. Essays by @SJasanoff and others. @TUM_STS students have contributed to the curation. Go see it - on/offline!

@LordElend @TUM_STS Thanks Arne for your relentless documenting and amplifying of the #4S2021 conference, as you did in previous years. We'll need to storify the hashtag!
A lot of inspiring people on this #4S2021 panel, talking about all the fun (and not so fun) things when it comes to studying the political economy of innovation. I've been too tired for that time slot last night but look forward to watching this session next week.
What do uberization, evidence-based policy and #LivingLabs have in common? What can an engaged #STS program contribute in the era of #BigTech and #entrepreneurship? Join us for 2 exciting sessions on the “Politics of #Scaling” at #4S2021 on Friday at 11:30 EDT. @Jackstilgoe
Innovation! War! Socialism! Microchips! Now that I have your attention, here comes the plug:
I'm excited to present on Friday at the 3-part session "Situating, transforming, and (de)centering Images of the Future" along with many great scholars, organized by @mapc. #4S2021
Habemus STS Department! Formerly known as MCTS @TU_Muenchen. Now institutionalized as a proper department at the brand new TUM School for the Social Sciences and Technology. The first of its kind in Germany! I can't deny, I'm feeling a bit proud.
Upgrade successfully installed!
As of Oct 1, the Munich Center for Technology in Society (MCTS) has become the Department of Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at TU Munich. Our new home base is the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology.

This @nytimes opinion piece by @onachtwey sums up the situation after the #GermanElection2021.
"Germany is stuck. Ms. Merkel may be leaving. Yet the Germany she cultivated — careful, cautious, averse to major change — will carry on as before."

Great piece by my friend an colleague in @TheGardianNews on the CO2 footprint of the bike industry. How green is it really? Hint: Still beats the pants off the auto industry but we need more transparency and a sober assessment like with other consumer products.
I wrote a little piece for the Guardian in which I argue that bike companies, despite being more or less like other consumer industries, often get a free ride on environmentalism because of the widely-held assumption that bikes are inherently green.
Another interesting variety of out-of-office vacation replies: The back-in-office date is a week old but the auto reply is still active. Should I be worried?
