No, you don't need to send your AERO to Coinbase. The Coinbase migration only covers AERO that's already sitting in a Coinbase account. The swap will be automatic for Coinbase users, with deposits and withdrawals paused during the migration, which runs from November 2 through November 4.  

If your AERO is in a Tangem wallet, you'll convert it yourself through Aero's own process. Self-custody holders may need to follow a separate process through the project. Aero is scheduled to go live October 21, and in the weeks before that the team plans to publish a launch-week schedule plus migration guidance for liquidity providers and veNFT holders. The rate is 1 old AERO for 1 new AERO, so your token count shouldn't change.

Update on the Aerodrome Finance (AERO) migration
We're reaching out with an update regarding the migration of Aerodrome Finance (AERO) to the new Aero (AERO) token. If you hold Aerodrome Finance (AERO), here is what you need to know.

What's Happening?

On November 13, 2025, Aerodrome Finance announced its merger with Velodrome Finance into a unified protocol, Aero. Coinbase will support this migration and will convert all Aerodrome Finance (AERO) to the new Aero (AERO) token from November 2 - 4, 2026. Send/receive support for AERO will be temporarily disabled from November 2 - 4, 2026.

What This Means for You

•Coinbase will support this migration. Your Aerodrome Finance (AERO) tokens will automatically be converted to the new Aero (AERO) token.
•Your tokens will be converted at a rate of 1:1. There will be no transaction fees associated with the conversion.
•Timeline of events:
◦November 2, 2026 - Sends / Receives disabled. Send any AERO to a compatible self-custody wallet before this date to opt-out of automatic conversion.
◦November 2 - 4, 2026 - Conversion of AERO to the new AERO token.
◦November 4, 2026 - Sends / Receives for AERO re-enabled.
•Please refrain from depositing or transferring AERO from November 2 - 4, 2026.
•Coinbase will send an update once the migration has been completed.

Important Changes After the Migration

•You will only be able to withdraw the new AERO token.
•You will only be able to deposit the new AERO token.
•Coinbase will no longer support deposits using the legacy AERO token. Please do not send the legacy AERO to your Coinbase deposit address after the migration is complete, as these deposits may not be recoverable.
