1. Models show ~2–5 t gold/GW_th/yr. Mine supply is ~3,600–3,700 t/yr.
2. Enriched Hg-198 is ~$15k/mg; gold is ~$129/g, so feedstock costs ~100,000× more.
3. Trace radioisotopes require ~14–18 years cooling before legal sale.

No commercial reactor exists yet. Scale-up of enrichment and economics remain open questions.

Here is why Asian markets are crashing:

1. Bond yields are rising fast in the US, Japan and Korea at the same time.

Higher yields make borrowing harder and investors read that as a recession signal.

2. Trump said there are no talks happening with Iran. Markets now assume the peace deal is dead, which keeps oil high.

Most of Asia's oil comes through the Strait of Hormuz.

3. Growth is already slowing. US GDP came in below expectations and Japan's did too.

4. Higher oil and higher yields both push inflation expectations up, right when growth is weakening.

US markets saw a brutal selloff in semiconductor stocks last night, and the same selloff is now following through in Asia.

Every major index in the region is heavily concentrated in AI and semiconductor names.
