आज लोकसभा में जो दृश्य देखने को मिला, वह अत्यंत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और निराशाजनक है।

‘नारी शक्ति वंदन अधिनियम’ जैसे महत्वपूर्ण संविधान संशोधन विधेयक, जो देश की महिलाओं को लोकसभा और विधानसभाओं में 33% आरक्षण देने का मार्ग प्रशस्त करता, उसे "नारी विरोधी गठबंधन" द्वारा पारित न होने देना नारी शक्ति के साथ अन्याय है। इस महत्वपूर्ण विधेयक का विरोध करना, उसे गिराना और उस पर जश्न मनाना न केवल निंदनीय है, बल्कि महिलाओं के सम्मान और अधिकारों के खिलाफ भी है।

यह पहला अवसर नहीं है जब इन दलों ने महिलाओं के अधिकारों के प्रति उदासीनता दिखाई हो, बल्कि बार-बार ऐसे अवसरों पर इन्होंने बाधा उत्पन्न की है। उनकी यह सोच नारी सशक्तिकरण के विरुद्ध है और देश की प्रगति में भी बाधक है।

मैं स्पष्ट कहना चाहता हूँ कि नारी शक्ति के सम्मान से जुड़ा यह विषय यहीं थमने वाला नहीं है। देश की महिलाएं जागरूक हैं और अपने अधिकारों के प्रति सजग भी। आने वाले समय में विपक्ष को इस निर्णय का जवाब देश की मातृशक्ति अवश्य देगी।

नारी सम्मान और सशक्तिकरण के लिए हमारी प्रतिबद्धता अटल है और हम इस दिशा में निरंतर कार्य करते रहेंगे।

In a major confidence-building move to ensure free and fair elections in West Bengal, the EC has directed the state police’s election nodal officer to provide a list of areas where violence occurred during the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election and the 2024 general election, along with the names of the officers who were posted there at the time.

The move suggests an effort to review accountability and ensure stricter oversight, with a warning that officials found to have engaged in illegal or unconstitutional actions could face disciplinary proceedings under Article 311 of the Constitution of India, which allows for penalties or dismissal of government servants.

Yesterday in the Supreme Court of India, lawyers for Mamata Banerjee argued that all “mapped” voters be allowed to vote in this poll even without verification, while unmapped voters could remain under adjudication or be deleted.

The motive is obvious to anyone following the SIR in Bengal.

Unmapped voters largely comprise Hindu refugees, while a significant share of mapped voters under adjudication are suspected illegal immigrants. Allowing all mapped voters to vote would have effectively legitimised fraudulent entries.

During the hearing, the Court noted that 10 lakh electors under adjudication had been reviewed and nearly 3 lakh were found to be fraudulent, a staggering 30% fraud rate. This strongly suggests that many “mappings” were engineered to slip illegal voters into the rolls.

The Court rejected the plea to allow all mapped but unverified voters to vote, marking a significant win for the Commission and electoral integrity.

Let’s call the plea for what it was: an attempt to let all mapped voters vote, effectively shielding illegal infiltrators.

For months, the strategy appeared clear: create obstacles at every stage of SIR and ultimately force elections on the old 2024 voter list.

That attempt has now run up against the rule of law.

The events in West Bengal today point to a complete collapse of the constitutional framework under the Mamata Banerjee government.

In a rare and unprecedented development, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, openly expressed displeasure over the lack of preparation and protocol during her visit to Siliguri.

Even more shocking, the state government denied permission for the International Santhali Conclave, where the President herself was the Chief Guest.

When a state government begins to disregard the dignity of the office of the President of India, it reflects not just administrative failure but a breakdown of constitutional propriety and governance.

This is not merely discourtesy.
It is institutional disrespect and another reminder of how governance in Bengal has descended into chaos.
