One question I have seen a lot of people asking in the midst of this Chike/Frank/Sandra saga is why society reacts differently to male vs female infidelity - thought to share a perspective on the uncomfortable truth about human psychology.
Apart from culture, society reacts differently partly because of evolutionary biology. Male members of every species have strong instincts to propagate their genes, and they want to do so as efficiently as possible. A woman would always know a child was hers, but for men... there is no such certainty, so men (and indeed society) evolved strong instincts around paternity certainty because raising another man’s child meant investing years of protection, resources, labour and risk into genes that weren’t theirs - nature calibrates against inefficiencies.
That evolutionary pressure shaped human social norms and inheritance systems across civilizations. Female infidelity threatened lineage certainty directly. While male infidelity is also destructive morally and socially, it did not create the same biological uncertainty inside the household.
This does not justify/excuse any; this just partly explains why societies historically reacted more aggressively to one than the other.
@ekwuluoprecious@OG_Prince81@dr_doreeeeenn 😀you don't care about the future generation?
Really, it just emphasizes why the human species has to go multiplanetary to ensure long-term survival... it's self-preservation.
Sky full of stars.
Following a successful lunar flyby, the Artemis II astronauts captured this breathtaking photo of our galaxy, the Milky Way, on April 7, 2026.
@OG_Prince81@dr_doreeeeenn The ball is actually falling… falling into the sun… but thankfully moving on a straight line really fast too, so it falls but keeps missing the “ground” of the sun… continuously.
Bad news though, the sun will eventually expand to roast this ball in a distant future.
Gravity isn’t a force. It’s a warping/curve in spacetime by a mass. Smaller objects make insignificant curvature, bigger objects like celestial objects create noticeable curvature.
When an object travels at the right velocity near the earth in a straight line, it starts falling into the earth because spacetime around earth is curved… but it doesn’t quite hit the earth… so it’s speeding away and “falling” at the same time… it gets trapped in an orbit (continuous falling but never hit the ground).
If it increases in speed, it escapes the fall and goes off on a tangent but if it reduces its speed, it falls faster than its attempt to fly off and it comes crashing down.
@iKamwamu@Moha001_Onyango@Murakariuki Earth’s gravity. You’ll notice that you can see incredible details of the moon from so far away… thats because it doesn’t have an atmosphere that blocks the view and it doesn’t have an atmosphere because of its weak gravity.
@kafangi That’s why it’s called vacuum of space. There is nothing in those dark regions to scatter/reflect the light from the sun, so the photons pass through without interacting or bounced back to be observed.
Hello, Moon. It’s great to be back.
Here’s a taste of what the Artemis II astronauts photographed during their flight around the Moon. Check out more photos from the mission: https://t.co/rzM1P0QbOl
@Omojuwa In the distant future, only one side of the earth will also face the moon… so they’ll just be staring at each other like partners waltz-dancing… talk about returning same energy.
People on one hemisphere have a moon in their night sky, those on the other don’t ever see a moon.
@Omojuwa There’s really no way to flatten a sphere while preserving all elements of shape, angles, directions, etc… something must be compromised.
A globe (sphere map) is the only option for true to size representation.
@OgbeniDipo@Funminz And this is cheaper capital, compared to other means Nigeria typically sources finance.
A UK backed infrastructure finance is also a strong signal that will improve investor confidence.
Pessimists will do what pessimists do, strategic people will position themselves accordingly.
