Loved reading this blog post from @montgomeryplans by @DavidAnspacher. Great summary of amazing transportation planning work done in Montgomery County. https://t.co/wKZZLI7SXe

We can’t change the original design of suburban neighborhoods, but we can retrofit them to better serve the people who live & work in them. Check out this article by our own Aditya Inamdar that explores the role public agencies can play in encouraging walkable communities. 🌱
#SundayMorning reading. Thank you for writing this book @VeronicaODavis. Amazing job explaining complicated topics in plain language. Hoping to get your autograph the next time we meet.
@MikeLydon With these dimensions, it’s better to get rid of the double yellow centerline. Clarify the design as a yield street, which is what it is functioning as, at least as far as bus movement is concerned. Not sure if traffic volumes are low enough to allow that.
@alaina_pitt@NACTO@JeffSpeckFAICP @RoadDietsRule @clmarohn@JoeCutrufo@BikeWalkKC@WABADC Ideally the bike lane width is supposed to be measured without the gutter pan width. Although in practice many agencies include it because sub-standard bike lane is all that could be fit in within existing curb to curb width. Gutter pans are meant to convey storm water not bikes
@alaina_pitt@NACTO@JeffSpeckFAICP @RoadDietsRule @clmarohn@JoeCutrufo@BikeWalkKC@WABADC As per one FHWA course “ On streets where the bike lane is adjacent to the curb and the curb includes a 1-foot to 2-foot gutter pan, bike lanes should be a minimum of 4 feet wide (width does not include the gutter pan, since bicyclists are typically unable to use this space).”
Really sad to learn that one of my favorite teachers is no more! I am really grateful to have learned urban design from Prof. Doug Kelbaugh at Michigan. We all will miss him. Condolences to family and friends. https://t.co/IFWwwv6koX
East Street is an important corridor in downtown Frederick, MA with many vital destinations. We proposed designs to enhance the historic character of the corridor through place-making & urban design streetscape solutions & allow people to use the corridor more easily & safely.
36 hours in Copenhagen and I'm ready to an unleash a college-junior-just-back-from-year-abroad harangue about how much better their street design is. It's a revelation!
