We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country.
There’s no reason somebody needs a weapon of war with 100 rounds in a magazine. None.
Sandy Hook. Parkland. El Paso. Orlando. Las Vegas. Atlanta. Boulder.
This awful list keeps growing. No more. We must act:
Universal background checks. Ban assault weapons & extended clips. And more.
We have the power. Not the NRA.
So let’s act. Before another tragedy strikes.
Bewildering when @SenTedCruz says universal background checks would deprive “law-abiding” citizens of guns.
If they’re law-abiding, what do they have to fear?
Why should we care what the “founding fathers” thought about guns or statehood for DC. That was 200 years ago, guns were muskets and Georgia was “the west.” Plus they enslaved human beings so maybe i don’t give a shit what they thought.
Holy. Shit.
Boulder, Colorado passed an assault weapons ban in 2018.
The NRA sued the city and a judge struck down the ban 10 DAYS GO.
The Boulder shooter bought the gun 6 DAYS before the shooting.
These deaths were the direct result of the NRA’s intervention.
Just now: The flag at the White House was just lowered to honor the victims in the Boulder shooting. It was raised last night following the Atlanta killings, up for less than 24 hours.
I am heartbroken to announce that my Dad, my hero, Kevin Mahoney, was killed in the King Soopers shooting in my hometown of Boulder, CO. My dad represents all things Love. I'm so thankful he could walk me down the aisle last summer.
We can ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
We can close loopholes in our gun background check system.
This is not a partisan issue — it’s an American issue that will save lives. Congress needs to act.
