A ? for Urdu grammar people: Kishwar Naheed's "We Sinful Women" has 3 lines that end on
[fem. plural noun]+[fem. modifier]+ milē haiN
I would have expected "milī haiN" instead:
شاہراہیں اٹی ملی ہیں، داستانیں رکھی ملی ہیں، زبانیں کٹی ملی ہیں
Which would be more common/normative?

@karanvasudeva Thank you! Makes sense — her parents were from Gulaothi / Dhaulana and Hapur. Is the logic that feminine plurals get the same verb forms as masc plurals?

A point I think gets overlooked in the “Pakistani anthem is Persian” discourse is that even some verses with 100% Persian vocabulary are syntactically Urdu. E.g., pāk sarzamīn shād bād isn’t quite Persian b/c in Persian the adjective typically follows the noun: sarzamīn-e pāk
