Letting go of things that gave me validation/praise and replacing them with what gives me purpose/fulfillment is a messy process. People act like being honest is a natural instinct but it’s not. Ego deaths, individuation, integration - all these are difficult processes. When you were conditioned to be useful and accepted instead of being allowed to exist authentically, it will take time, patience and grace to undo all that.
