@Swapnil_ID I would continue abx and repeat imaging in 2 wks. If the abscess is still the same size, there would be a concern for ductal disruption, leak or fistulization perpetuating the presence of the collection at which point you could ask surgeons to weigh in and consider stopping abx.
๐Ok, fun news! @DartmouthHealthโs podcast, The Cure, has a new mini-series on antimicrobial stewardship, called โThe Bug Stops Here!โ

Gets better..you assign a seat and then change it as I am about to board..so that the group is separated..@JetBlue you are really dropping fast in customer service...next time, the least you can do is keep some setas open at check in and not charge $157 dollars to reserve one!
Its 12.44pm..boarding supposed to start at 12.56 for a departure at 1.30 pm. @JetBlue if you want me to see a crew member for seat assignments, in spite of being your credit card holder, can you atleast ensure someone is at the gate in time? #buckupjetblue#youcandobetter
To all interested in ID and #idtwitter, we have multiple spots open at @umass_id for fellowship starting in July 2024. Come work with me and a great group of ID docs with a challenging and diverse patient population. Also your 2nd year fellows are going to be a great group!!
@PrathitKulkarni@sargsyanz@Cortes_Penfield @Strongylady @EvaAmenta The issue we understand the nuances but other physicians either don't or refuse to consider it. Which means, the "compatible with" gets henceforth taken as the "rule of thumb". IMO, dehydration is a greater driver in this population and IV fluids help more often than empiric abx
