Caraipé is an Amazonian temper of burned siliceous tree bark used by ceramicists for ca. 2000yrs. Recently met a family who continue this practice to make fine cooking wares. They also coat their vessels w/ a resin from the jutaí tree! #archaeology #amazonia #ceramics #pottery
