Aces vs Fever

- These two teams have faced off twice but only one with A'ja and Caitlin in the game. In that game a few things stood out to me defensively about the Fever. First, they were going 1v1 with A'ja relying on the fact that Aliyah Boston is truly one of the few bigs in the league who has the size and athleticism to body up A'ja. As a result, A'ja had just 4 Pas and 23 FGA.

- The Fever were also doing their typical show help routine on PNRs to slow down Jackie/Chelsea but A'ja wasn't attacking the rim and instead settling for middies which allowed AB to help on the ball handler and still maintain decent position on A'ja. Neither Chelsea or Jackie had strong PA numbers in this matchup but they also got their tails blown off by 34 so not a lot went right for the Aces in that game.

- If I am projecting A'ja to get single coverage (which I am), that should lend itself to Jackie having success here passing the basketball.

- On the other side, the Aces were stepping up and CC coming off the PNR as well and using NaLyssa to defend AB here with A'ja playing help defense. This should also lend itself to an under on CC points, over on her assists and over on AB points.

- Although the other thing that stood out to me on defense (and what generally does watching A'ja) is how quickly she can close on AB when she got the ball in the non-Rz paint which allowed Monique to cut to the basket and provided AB with an assist outlet there. Over the last 7 game, the Aces rank B6 in cut finishes allowed. Monique is getting an 8.5 line here.

NaLyssa has bumped from 10.5 to 11.5 in the last 24 hours and has put up 17/18 points in the last two games on strong shot volumes (11/16 FGA). On paper, this is a fantastic matchup for her. The Fever rank B3 vs transition and post-up move (32% of her total production), and every single player that falls in her category of similar players has hit their line this month. Here's my only issue, Monique is a strong defender and a lot of NaLyssa's points come from the attention that A'ja draws and dump offs from her. A'ja has assisted NaLyssa more than any other player on the Aces roster besides Jackie.
