Happy to share the latest work from our lab. 🎉
This is the first report of an enhancer coordinating the transcription of Bdnf gene in non-neuronal cells.

My first experience as a PhD opponent was fantastic - strong thesis, excellent discussion, beautiful city, and the kindest hosting. Congratulations Dr Avarlaid!
@martinowk@SvitlanaBach Congratulations to everyone for this nice work! 👏
I'm sorry to hear that the BDNF projects are coming to an end. I really appreciate the effort you have put into the BDNF storyline.

@TWBredy Thank you so much for the feedback! Yes, we saw transcription from enhancer upon catecholamine treatment. Moreover, while the enhancer was repressed or activated, the eRNA and Bdnf mRNA levels were decreased or increased, respectively.
Main points of the work:
• A −840 kb upstream enhancer regulates catecholamine-dependent Bdnf expression in astrocytes.
• The −840 kb enhancer is in spatial proximity with Bdnf and facilitates Bdnf expression via CREB and AP1 family transcription factors.
The first European Glia meeting was held in 1994, the year that I was born. What a community, what an enthusiasm!
Happy to share our lab results related with neurotrophin BDNF and its regulation in astrocytes. See you tomorrow from 1PM @ T08-017B

The comprehensive description of the expression patterns of BDNF and its receptors across different tissues and developmental stages provides a highly valuable resource to the neurotrophin research community! 🧠
It's time for our 6th #AstrocyteCafe!
Join us on Thursday, November 18, we can't wait to hear about the research of Dr. Stefanie Robel (@StefanieRobel) and Dr. Corrado Calí ( @dadoEM82)🤩🙌

I’m excited to announce that I have 2 fully funded, 3.5 year PhD studentships to join my lab next year. Please take a look if you fancy some neuroepigenetics fun on the south coast! @unisouthampton@sotonbiosci Details below
