@Lexie1945351@abhornUCRedu I completely agree with you Lexie, college sports do bring in a solid amount of revenue for institutions. While students don’t receive any of that commission they should at least be provided with good well being and other supports. #ucr150@annaaacha
@Angnizzle081@abhornUCRedu I agree with you Angela, African American athletes should have equal recognition when it comes to athletics, opportunities, and other academic supports. It is just not an equal playing field when other athletes are getting better opportunities and/or support. #ucr150@annaaacha
African American athletes should be treated with the same respect and recognition as any other NCAA athletes. They should also be given the same opportunities and support as other student athletes.
#ucr150@annaaacha
@AgredanoJohana@annaaacha I definitely agree with you on this! These college athletes should not be considered amateurs, they are far from it. They dedicated so much of their lives to these sports, some of them sacrificed their whole childhood and teenage years to make it to the NCAA. @annaaacha#ucr150
@chadbvel1@abhornUCRedu Yes! I agree… The NCAA definitely benefits the most from athletes being considered amateurs. However, that defense will not always be there for them to fall back on so they need to start treating their athletes with respect. @annaaacha#ucr150
These institutions are constantly using amateurism as an excuse to treat their student athletes poorly it needs to stop. Student athletes deserve rights too!!
#ucr150@annaaacha
@skywash345@abhornUCRedu Yes! This definitely needs to be talked about more. Students should be allowed to transfer schools without having to worry about the NCAA restricting them. #ucr150@annaaacha
@amieucr@abhornUCRedu I agree! There are thousands of students at these universities, to them these students are just numbers and a way to gain revenue. They do not have what is best for the athlete in mind, only what is best for the institution. #ucr150@annaaacha
College athletes should be allowed to transfer universities with no consequences, it is their life and they should be able to do whatever they think is best for them and their family. Just another thing the NCAA puts limitations on. #ucr150@annaaacha
@CivriP@abhornUCRedu I 100% agree students should feel secure enough to report any injuries they may have not just concussions. Coaches should be advocating for their athletes and pushing them to prioritize their safety. #ucr150@annaaacha
@RomeroDevanni @annaaacha Yes! I agree with you I think the safety and well being (whether that be physically or mentally) of a student is never the top priority for schools, and I think student athletes should really start advocating for themselves and their teammates! #ucr150@annaaacha
Student should feel comfortable and safe to report any injuries, especially something as serious as a concussion! Instead a large percentage of them go unreported because students are afraid of losing their spot on the team. Safety should always come first! #ucr150@annaaacha
@lisscastrom@annaaacha Lissette! Say it again for the people in the back!! Women are just as dedicated to their sports and academics as anyone else. Just because people identify as a woman doesn’t mean they don’t deserve the same funding and money as everyone else! #ucr150@annaaacha
@destinytncaa@abhornUCRedu I definitely have the same questions you have about the different loopholes the NCAA has created. Money and funding has always been a conflict when it comes to gender equality in sports and those words are the two words they are staying away from. #ucr150@annaaacha
If Title IX is suppose to help build equality and and stop discrimination in education programs and activities why do women only received 32% of athletic recruiting dollars when they take up over 50% of the D1 student body? #ucr150@annaaacha
@lisscastrom@annaaacha Hi Lissette! I completely agree, these one year contracts give the coach’s and university so much power. These athletes have to constantly worry about their scholarship and whether they’ll have a school to attend the following year. #ucr150@annaaacha
@pjime023@annaaacha I agree these national letters can definitely limit an athlete’s opportunities, especially since they are going in blind and don’t have a clear idea of what to expect until they are living it. #ucr150@annaaacha
When a student athlete signs a National Letter of Intent they are legally signing away different opportunities they may have in the future. A lot of the time these students don’t like a clear understanding of what they are signing. They go in blind. #ucr150@annaaacha
@cortez85218@abhornUCRedu I completely agree with you, especially since these athletes are making their universities so much money. For example, March Madness broke some viewing records this year. People are watching these and attending them live because of the players. #ucr150@annaaacha
College athletes should be paid for playing sports. They are making their schools money, especially when they become more known to the public, like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, etc they brought so many new viewers. #ucr150@annaaacha
