As of Monday, 3,136 absentee ballots had been returned in Hillsdale County — that’s a 37 percent increase from the 2014 election (there’s a 43 percent increase statewide). Voters who have their absentee ballots have until 8 p.m. tonight to return them.

I was just at the Hillsdale Community Library where there's a long line of people waiting for an open polling booth. City Clerk Stephen French said he’s seeing “presidential election-like numbers.” People of Hillsdale County: Have you voted? Did you have to wait in line?

Another tidbit from speaking with the city of Hillsdale's clerk: because of the high turnout, they haven't been able to count any absentee ballots yet. If turnout remains high, they may have to wait until the polls close. That could affect how early we'll see results.
