I had the honour of attending the turbaning ceremony of Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, OON, SAN, as Garkuwan Kano earlier today.

The colourful and dignified event, held at the Emir’s Palace in Kano, also witnessed the conferment of the traditional title of Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idnawan Kano on Air Marshal Muhammad Dikko Umar (Rtd) by His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, PhD, CON, the Emir of Kano.

The ceremony was graced by His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, alongside a distinguished gathering of personalities from across the country. - RMK

Truth be told, Kwankwaso is among the most moderate and pro-Nigeria politicians the country has ever produced. Naming him in the U.S. House bill as the sole individual to be sanctioned is not only unfair but plainly erroneous. His name should be withdrawn from the bill without delay.

More broadly, this episode exposes the poor quality of the information underpinning the so-called “Christian genocide” narrative. Its proponents just generate and circulate unsubstantiated claims and then rely on those same claims as evidence.

As part of ongoing efforts to elevate educational standards and expand access to quality learning opportunities in Nigeria, I had the privilege of visiting Mangalayatan University in Aligarh (Beswan), Uttar Pradesh, India, on Wednesday.

I joined the management and staff of Corporate Affairs Commission to commemorate the Commision’s 35th anniversary in Abuja earlier today.

CAC has evolved over the years to become a key bedrock of Nigeria’s business ecosystem. It has earned its strong reputation and global recognition through innovation, dedication and sustained reforms.

I commend the Registrar-General, Husaini Magaji, SAN, for his transformative leadership and celebrate the staff of the commission on the successes recorded over the years.

Joined a high-level delegation of Federal Government officials led by Vice President, Kashim Shettima to commiserate with victims of attack in Nuku and Woro villages in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

In line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, NEMA is doubling down on its response and intervention efforts, mobilizing resources to provide succour to all distressed, and coordinate the rebuilding of the communities.

Our officials are fully on ground discharging their duties alongside other instititions of the state and federal governments, particularly troops of the Nigeria Armed Forces under Operation Savannah Shield.

I commiserate with members of the affected communities who lost loved ones and wish those recuperating from injuries suffered during the attack very rapid recovery.

We gathered recently at the Umar Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Kaduna, for the North West Stakeholders’ Development Summit, organized by the National Assembly in collaboration with the North West Development Commission.

With rich contributions from top government officials, policy makers, development experts, industry captains, academia, traditional and religious leaders, women and youth groups, the summit resolved on strategies to advance inclusive and sustainable development in the geo-political zone in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu administration.

I am deeply saddened and horrified by the reported massacre of at least 162 innocent lives in the communities of Woro and Nuku in Kwara State.

This barbaric attack is condemnable in the strongest terms. It was carried out by terrorist elements that must not be tolerated or allowed to fester in any part of our nation.

As I have consistently warned, the Federal Government cannot afford to treat these developments lightly. These violent groups are steadily expanding their reach into regions that were once peaceful and secure. With each passing day, the burden on our armed forces grows heavier, and the need for decisive, coordinated action becomes more urgent.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the entire people of Kwara State, and the state government during this profound tragedy. May God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort all who mourn. - RMK
