Matei Zaharia, Professor at UC Berkeley and Cofounder/CTO of Databricks, has won the ACM Prize in Computing, donating the $250k Infosys prize to AddisCoder. We are extremely grateful for this gift, which we will use to advance our mission of increasing access in computer science.
This past week, AOA and the Ethiopian Mathematics Professionals Association collaborated to train students for the July PanAfrican math and informatics olympiads in Kigali. 10 AddisCoder alums participated in the informatics training, and six will represent Ethiopia in Kigali.
Congratulations to Ephrem (ODA Special Boarding School) and Mizan (Kallamino Special High School), both from AddisCoder'23, on being admitted to UC Berkeley.

Finally visited my friend, @Nafira_G’s hometown, Batu (Ziway), and absolutely loved it! As someone from West Oromia, I cannot stress enough how hot it is here 🥵, but the vibe is totally worth it. @VisitOromia definitely needs to do more work here! 📍
Congrats to Jack, AddisCoder'23, on a full scholarship to @NYUAbuDhabi!
Jack studied in Gambella while residing with his parents and 5 siblings in Kule Refugee Camp. He earned a scholarship to finish high school in Addis, and now will be the first in his family to go to college.
