People underestimate the effect that the President's actions have on this country. The Executive arm of our govt system is very powerful both constitutionally and in unofficial ways. The day we get a serious president, you'll all see what I mean. For now, OBJ was a good example.

NERC increase Band A price of electricity to N225/Kwh

The truth is that the Discos can recalibrate (as per NERC approval) their feeders to properly capture high consuming areas as band A in order to realise more revenue and reduce losses.

More attention will also be given to those on Band A feeder in terms of fault repair and others.

Discos will try as much as possible to provide electricity to band A users and recover full cost.

Band A will also be prioritised in terms of metering.

Most industrial layout areas are in Band A feeders, and highbrow areas are also inclusive.

Band A: Minimum of 20 Hours
Band B: Minimum of 16 Hours
Band C: Minimum of 12 Hours
Band D: Minimum of 8 Hours
Band E: Minimum of 4 Hours

Industries might be tempted to increase the cost of goods, but I think that will be grossly unfair if 20 hours of supply will be guaranteed against the cost of diesel per litre.

Because of insufficient generation from the grid, to sustain Band A with the required 20 hours of supply, other bands B-E will suffer the consequences through darkness.

It is also reported that so many existing band A feeders has been downgraded to Band B.

The price of electricity for Band B-E remains as it is without change.

Let's see how our inflation will be in April.

@ZayyanUmar Add this. So price hike in a bit or FG will magnanimously shoulder the increase (which I doubt). FG has been grumbling recently about subsidy payments to gas companies so I guess we should buckle up cos they will surely pass on some to we the consumers.

The NMDPRA has approved the upward review of gas price for the power sector from $2.18/scf to $2.42/scf as part of the domestic base price (DBP).

Implication is that gas companies will adjust invoices to gencos, and gencos will adjust prices to discos.

Discos will not adjust price until approved by NERC.
