A wise friend once likened Islamabad to a snake's pit, a metaphor that's remained etched in my mind. In the intricate dance of power and politics, it's a place where sincerity and warmth are often cloaked in ulterior motives. Relationships, seemingly genuine, are strategically woven for personal gain, favors, and influence. But beneath this veneer of camaraderie, there's a readiness to strike, to betray without a second thought when self-interest dictates. A reminder to navigate these waters with eyes wide open and a guarded heart.
@elonmusk As a graduate of political science, my sincere advice: read up on historical movements of emancipation of populations who gained independence to live a life of dignity with basic freedoms and rights which every human being is entitled to. It needn't be an outcome of genocide
Yet more evidence that Israel is planning to "relocate" (ie ethically cleanse) the Palestinians of Gaza to "third countries" (ie Egypt) and that American State Dept has given the plan the Green Light, and even allocated funding for this.
It is open to debate whether Israel's massacre of ten of thousand innocent Gaza civilians constitutes genocide, at least yet. But as these clips from Netanyahu's civil and military leadership show, there can be little doubt of genocidal intent. Here, collected on this link, are clear and unembarrased calls for slaughter, erasure, nuclear holocaust and the levelling of Gaza, all on record, all on camera, from their own mouths. Its utterly, and completely, horrifying.
Ethnic cleansing and forced displacement endorsed by the West while human rights organizations urge for this massacre to stop. The Israeli Defence Minister has now called the whole of Gaza a terror stronghold. No place in Gaza is safe. This is mass murder of an entire population.
“Now we’re supposed to be in the safe area, but you can hear the bombs behind us. All of our houses are bombed. Nothing is left.” Hear these desperate voices from Gaza, as @SalmaCNN reports.
Reports of intense bombardment in Gaza are extremely distressing.
Evacuation of patients is not possible under such circumstances, nor to find safe shelter.
The blackout is also making it impossible for ambulances to reach the injured.
We are still out of touch with our staff and health facilities. I’m worried about their safety.
@WHO appeals to all those who have the power to push for a ceasefire to act NOW.
My fellow American Jews. The Holocaust was devastating. I lost family to it. The killing of Israeli civilians was horrific. But right now we are not the victims of genocide. Palestinians are. Israel & the U.S. are perpetuating it in our names. Don’t let them
#neverAgainIsNow
US officials when Palestinian civilians are killed: “That’s what war is, it’s brutal, it’s ugly”
US officials when Ukrainian civilians are killed: *chokes up* “It’s difficult to look at some of the images and imagine that any well-thinking, serious, mature leader would do that”
@ushnashah Feeling gutted, helpless and angry. The world has failed Palestine. Can't deal with visuals of dying children and destruction of an entire population day after day. And there is no let up in sight. Praying for a miracle.
This is the devastating reaction of Al Jazeera’s Wael Al-Dahdouh after learning his wife and two children were killed in Gaza. Israel says it was targeting terrorist infrastructure in the area. @pressfreedom says at least 24 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7.
