There is God, who is spirit, and there is what came forth out of him: the Word, the Son, the light, the life, and the Spirit. Those are names for the same one. Everything was made through him and he became flesh in order to teach the truth of God.
@Verhalen83 I've come to realize the Holy Spirit IS the Son, or "the Light" that came into the world and dwelt with us (John 1:10, John 9:5). He was unrecognized by his own, (John 6:42) but to those who recognized him he allowed access to the Most High Father (John 1:11, John 9, John 14:17)
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea That is the issue, they were walking in YHWH's way, not Jesus'. They weren't acting with any other intent but to follow the law of Moses.
"He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
Who was he talking to?
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea Also in 19:7, John says the chief priests (19:6). That would be the Sadducees. They rejected oral tradition as a matter of principle. So the group you're attributing invented law to is the one group that held written Torah only.
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea "He made himself the Son of God" isn't an oral tradition, it's Leviticus 24:16: the blasphemer is put to death, and the whole congregation stones him. That's written Torah, and it's why they reach for stones twice before the trial (John 8:59, 10:31, and 10:33)
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea "The authority and glory of the kingdoms have been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I want" (Luke 4:6)
if YHWH is god, what happened?
"I am Yahweh; that is my name; MY GLORY I give to no other, nor my praise to idols."
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea They only accuse him WITHIN the Mosaic law, John notes that Pilate couldn't find a charge of his own and it was the Judeans who responded "We have a law, and by our law he ought to die"
If you think YHWH is god, this is normal because your god permits death. Christ never killed.
@JameezTweets@Verhalen83@TheRealJamesRea So according to the Jewish text all of those names worshiped Yahweh, and John says the Father wasn't known by anyone until the Son made him known. That's not me disparaging the patriarchs. That's 1:18.
If you hold John's authority, what do you do with no one has ever seen God?
@JameezTweets@Verhalen83@TheRealJamesRea The most authority I'll give them is that they contain the cultural memory of the Ancient Near East from the perspective of Ancient Jewish and Christian groups.
@JameezTweets@Verhalen83@TheRealJamesRea Duet 32-33 outlines the history of Israel in relation to YHWH, and in it YHWH inherits the descendants of Jacob (the Israelites) from Elyon (the Most High) and the other Sons of El inherit nations as well. This was the Torahs explanation of ancient polytheism.
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea The issue is Christians ignore that it's always this YHWH as Judge, Satan as Accuser, and the Messiah who would be defense.
The issue is Jesus calls Moses their diablos/ha-satan, and Moses only wrote what YHWH gave him. (John 19:7, John 8:44)
@TheSwampyTimes@HappyApathetic@TheRealJamesRea Ha-Satan is a role, so in the case of Job whichever deity present fulfills that role as accuser ORDAINED by YHWH. It's quite literally a courtroom structure.
Satan is only given credence as a world power in the Christian scriptures, where he is elevated to "god of this world".
Jesus never speaks from his own, as does the Spirit, and both only say as they hear ( John 12:49, John 8:26, John 5:30, John 14:10 / John16:13).
John says nobody has ever heard the Father's voice (5:37), so what heard it IN Jesus was the Spirit, not the flesh it was housed in.

@Verhalen83@TheRealJamesRea He healed the roman guards servant, he ate with the samaratains (considered pagans/impure), and even the greeks came eager to hear him teaching. The notion of a tribal god is antithetical to Christ.
"What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit."
@TheRealJamesRea YHWH instructed Moses to inform them that he was the God of their Ancestors, yet when they tried invoking him during his disappearance on Sinai, he killed them.
And ofc he kills thousands for "idol worship" despite admitting that he's ONLY revealed himself to ONE nation
@TheRealJamesRea Exodus 32:27 "He said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel: Put your sword on your side, each of you! Go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you kill your brother, your friend, and your neighbor.”
Pretty dark stuff
@TinaChemlady@EndTimesBlues@Kalevios I know this. I'm telling OP that whatever story they have about Christianity is incorrect.
The Disciples and Apostles mistakenly continued to associate Jesus with Yahweh, and not The Most High.
