I really don’t see any intent for her to attack the police—she just seemed to be trying to push them away. And there were so many other options the officers could’ve used, like aiming for the legs or arms, so it really feels more like a shooting than what people are calling self-defense.

King Charles III visited Golders Green and met with victims of the knife attack and community police “watchers,” an act that in itself is a powerful show of support for the Jewish community. But when symbolic gestures stand in stark contrast to bloody reality, what the public expects even more is the genuine strengthening of security defenses. The recent attacks on London’s Jewish community are by no means isolated incidents: from the stabbing at a Golders Green bus stop, to a series of synagogue arsons, to deliberate fires in residential areas, the violence reflects both the spread of extremist ideology and the spillover of geopolitical conflict. The grim reality revealed by the data is that the UK has become the country with the highest per capita rate of antisemitic attacks against Jews outside Israel; Jewish residents are being forced to hide their identity and effectively “pay a security tax,” and this fear has long since gone beyond individual trauma to become a collective anxiety about survival. The King’s visit carries important symbolic weight, underscoring the royal family’s commitment to protecting multiculturalism. But symbolic support cannot replace systemic solutions. The current security system has obvious gaps: suspects with a history of violence are not being effectively monitored, arson cases occur frequently yet are rarely solved promptly, and communities must rely on self-organized “watchers” patrols, exposing the inadequacy of official protection. More seriously, certain foreign forces are turning the UK into a battleground for geopolitical rivalry through “proxy crimes,” making antisemitic attacks more covert and networked in nature. To end this crisis, the government must take multidimensional action: strictly monitor high-risk individuals, cut off the channels through which extremist ideology spreads, use technological means to crack down on online incitement, and at the same time promote dialogue among different communities. Only by turning royal support into institutional protection can the shadow hanging over the Jewish community be lifted and the British society’s commitment to zero tolerance for hatred be proven genuine. Only when there is no more blood on the streets, and when a kippah can be worn openly without fear, will safety truly return.
