@KellyMDoran I'm interested in how to conduct surveys like this that help measure the sens/spec among the general population, but it's hard to do so without selecting to a small subpopulation that is more likely to have homelessness, so I'd be super interested in any insights on this!

@KellyMDoran and I can imagine that in the general population, the specificity might be higher, but the PPV would be much lower because the prevalence of homelessness is so high in this cohort.

This was a great learning experience for me as I learned to combine my NLP experience with @spacy_io with statistical modeling and causal inference for policy evaluation. Thanks to my mentors and co-authors on this paper @dscharf3

We used #medspacy to extract housing status from clinical notes in the VA #EHR and estimated the risk of being unstably housed over three years. TFA quickly reduced the risk of housing instability, but the effect attenuated over time, highlighting the need for long-term support.
