@JJ_McCullough I always found that distinction to be ridiculous. We really are only "stitched together" in the sense that quebec doesn't want to be blended into the rest of Canada. But generally anglo Canada and Quebec Canada expects immigrants to blend in the American sense.

I don't see why this should stop for people who are from outside Europe ( speaking as a non-European ).
