@RefreshRear@HSVSphere@relionwastaken That is a legitimate reason but there is more to it. Turkey successfully stopped them from forming a state south of Turkey's border which would have been at the expense of other countries.
@JJ_McCullough I always found that distinction to be ridiculous. We really are only "stitched together" in the sense that quebec doesn't want to be blended into the rest of Canada. But generally anglo Canada and Quebec Canada expects immigrants to blend in the American sense.
@PatsyBoloney@JJ_McCullough Unless you mean anglo culture, "white" culture is the result of assimilation of a lot of people from very different and often warring countries in Europe into one culture. I don't see why this should stop for people who are from outside Europe ( speaking as a non-European ).
@RyanGeddie Saying that people were worst back then yet liberals were optimistic is not convincing enough since an easy explanation would be that even after educating the masses giving them the internet and all of that they would still believe crazy amount of misinfo would vote for crazy ppl
@RyanGeddie It would be interesting to hear you make the case for why we shouldn't be cynical and pessimistic about people. Convincing people of the premises of liberalism is a good way to convince people to be liberal.
@ColinLA@Noahpinion or you can debate what should happen to your country. Other countries are not zoos and have the right to change or not in ways they see fit/
@DrewPavlou@mattyglesias It does seem cringe for an Australian to tell a Canadian, American or a German what their immigration policy should be. It's their country, their right. They will reap the benefit or the cost.
