Extremely delighted to share that the digital edition of the story on Karbala and memory is out on @natgeo
Karbala has changed beyond recognition in my grandfather’s lifetime. But a place is not only its buildings.

As we honor Jane Goodall's legacy, we revisit her iconic 1963 National Geographic article about the chimpanzees of Gombe Stream Game Reserve and how months of patience allowed her to study them in a way once thought impossible. 🔗 https://t.co/Vvev3XeP3T

This is 1 mile long! People are not stupid. Despite the shadow banning, the shoddy journalism, the death threats, the doxxing, the censorship, the callousness & the bombs, there are still honourable ppl in this world that know that there is no freedom without #FreePalestine
Days earlier, Issam had told a friend that he didn’t want to die in the south, and have it be announced as “journalist was killed” without culpability.
Ex colleagues @ellen_fra and @SarahDadouch are trying their best to make sure that doesnt happen:

Issam was one of the first people I befriended at Reuters. Well, he befriended me, as he did everyone who came into his orbit.
He was a kind, caring and passionate journalist, beloved in Beirut and beyond.
He will be deeply missed.
